Square Bar Review
Brought to life by a San Francisco couple, SQUARE BAR uses all organic ingredients, is gluten free, soy and dairy free. They are conscious of using sustainable efforts and made a product that taste’s great! If we had one word to describe it, it would be: malt ball. These bars have a milk chocolate like look and taste and a creamy, melt in your mouth texture. While there are bars that add in more nutrient dense ingredients, these are a great treat to add into the mix when you really just want something creamy and dessert like with a good punch of protein and no added flavors or chemicals. So enjoy every last bite!
This is a newer product on the market, at least where we live. Another product based on whole foods, plant-based ingredients. The ingredients are a bit more complex and the bar is moderately priced. The base is a brown rice protein concentrate/coconut nectar mixture. Square Bars are certified organic and therefore non-GMO and vegan. They use coconut nectar and oil if that is a concern.
These are chocolate covered and have a dry consistency with a crispy texture due to the rice crisps which can be a nice change from the traditional energy bar.
These do not contain any high fructose corn syrup. No trans fat, no cholesterol, no preservatives or artificial ingredients. We are always a bit hesitant when the first ingredient is a sweetener and there is a refined oil in the list, however the total sugar content is actually lower than most other bars on the market, averaging only 11g per bar. These bars are a good option if you want to try them out!

**The same disclaimer will accompany all of our energy bar reviews: While we prefer utilizing whole food products as much as possible, we also understand that life is busy and sometimes we need a little help. That’s where the energy bars come in. They are great to give your body a little nourishment when you need it most. Generally energy bars are intended to replace/fuel calories spent from intense exercise. They are a condensed source of calories from nuts and sugars and should be cautioned against relying on energy bars as meal replacements. Especially when at work in a sedentary environment where these calories can quickly add up.**
