Grow Food For Tomorrow Challenge
Why bother growing a garden? Will it actually cost more money than purchasing food from the grocery store? Sounds hard! I travel too much as an airline professional to tend to a garden, so this isn’t for me, is it? Where do I start?
These are all valid concerns, so our goal is to provide you the best information based on our own experiences. Growing your own food can require a steep learning curve with many setbacks, so follow us, learn from our mistakes, and we can provide you options to suit your schedule, space, and budget to take ownership of producing your own healthy, organic produce!
Whether you are a home owner or a renter, if you live in a home with a yard, then you have access to growing space! Maybe you rent an apartment and do not have access to growing space. Think again! We have recommendations for utilizing that rarely used porch space and door step to have fresh food at your fingertips. Why waste resources watering plants that don’t put food on your plate? It’s time to overhaul those ornamental plants with plants that feed you.
For me, I am a first officer for a regional ( equals = economically challenged) which means I rent. This didn’t stop me from tearing up the yard and adding some plants that will benefit my health! It has taken several years of rehabilitating the soil and learning some tough lessons trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Taking care of plants when you are away from home requires taking a few extra steps to make the garden operate on auto pilot while you are away from home.
